History

He was born in Kiamana, the land of the Fire Elves. His Mother was a maker of high quality pots, pans and cauldrons, and his father a noted chef. With these two professionals in the household, money was never in short supply. His parents were worshippers of Corellian and hoped that he would either work as a cleric or that he would find a productive talent such as smith-craft or sculpting. He was always a good singer, outgoing and curious about everything. As a small child he often wandered from house to house, shop to shop, just watching and talking to whoever would allow it, learning a little bit about what each did. During this time, he became well liked by the people of his village as an amusing gossip source. He could be coaxed to tell stories from neighbor to neighbor, and could sing everyone's favorite song for them if asked. During these years of blessed freedom, he decided that being a bard would someday be his profession.

He enjoyed the attention he got from performing. He learned to juggle, tumble and do other gymnastic feats from the local ash-sweeper, Max. Ash-sweepers are very necessary parts of any Kiamana village due to the propensity for volcanic eruptions. However, it is considered a low status profession, and is hardly ever filled by an elf. This particular ash-sweeper was a halfling. Young Aeri thought Max was just about the most interesting person in the village. He may have learned a few less savory things by hanging out with Max as well. "After all, Ash Sweepers aren't paid as much as they are worth…"

When Aeri reached the age when elves traditionally become apprentice to an expert in whatever their planned profession will be, his parents were willing, though mildly disappointed by his desire to be a bard. Nonetheless, they loved their only child, and began researching possible masters for him in nearby villages and cities.

Then Lornorith came.

Aeridrayeth had very mixed emotions about learning that he was born to be a slayer. On the one hand, it was exciting to feel special, but on the other, he was rebellious, and did not like having his own life plans disrupted. Over time, he was able to come up with a balance that he felt satisfied both his birth right as a slayer, and his right to be Aeridrayeth, the performer. He worked hard to become a good warrior, and he learned to perform using blades, thereby satisfying his desire to perform. He also still sings and can play a harp if he so desires. He knows many stories, and is one of the few slayers who probably does not get easily bored by the stories collected by the watchers.

Personality Sketch

Adjectives that might which embody his personality would include flashy, good-hearted, cocky, and idealistic. Though he is idealistic, he is not naïve and has fairly good street wisdom. His personality might remind one of a playful otter.

His goals are to fulfill his mission as a slayer, but not give up "himself" to do so. He still wants to be a bard, to have fun, perform, and learn whatever he can. His curiosity is a powerful drive. He will go as far as necessary to achieve his aims, and fully expects to meet his death on this quest, but hopes to do so in style, and after some legendary adventures.

What he fears most is loss of himself. Becoming an automaton, killing without knowing why, or noticing any of the joy and beauty in life. What he loves most is entertaining others, reminding them that life can be fun, learning new things, improving his abilities and succeeding in battle.

He is very competitive, in terms of his blades prowess. Not very competitive in terms of fun contests, debates, etc. He is able to laugh at himself in others in most cases. His best quality is that he cares about others, and feels it is important for everyone to have fun in their lives, and that people are all valuable, no matter what their status in society. His worst trait is that can be arrogant, or act impulsively without waiting to learn details.

When he first meets people, if he's "on" as a bard he will tries to be charismatic to everyone, be jocular and funny with men, and flirt harmlessly with women. He will try to intimidate anyone if he thinks he may need to do so to complete his mission. People usually respond positively to him, he's always made casual friends easily, and he is attractive. He might annoy those who have fragile egos, and feel he is showing them up.

Occupation Wizard, Rogue
Age: 25

Description: Blue eyes and dusty brown hair. He wears a trenchcoat like garment, that appears to have been made of loose strips of light leather. When he moves these trail behind him for a fraction of a second, like an afterglow.

Notes:

He understands the magic of light and air, the way they move through each other and interact with each other. Where other races see earth and sky, he sees space as a rich world of surfaces and planes, some parts hard, some soft, some sliding over each other smoothly, some chaotic and turbulent. This understanding has various uses, not all of them useful. Understanding of course, is the key to control.

When defending himself from his enemies he uses his mastery of motion and momentum to be wherever they least expect him to be. He carries what could be called a sword, that flicks out and telescopes from a sheath strapped to his forearm. It is impossibly light, impossibly sharp and impossibly fast, It follows in the wake of where he has just been, making mortal cuts and stabs appear to the surprise of his opponent.

He also carries a sling as many of the Ariel do. Mostly its used to play a game of catch with each other, bouncing pebbles of air currents in interesing ways that the other player has to catch and then imitate. It can also be used as a weapon of course. He has recently started to see what other projectiles might be used, explosives and nerve poisons for example but has not mastered this yet. He can explain the principles of light and air to others, but they never seem to keep their understanding for long.
